ABF Summer Electives

In the Summer we mix things up a bit and depart from our regular ABFs.  We move to a model that encourages people to try new classes and meet new people.  We know that summer is busy with vacations and activity.  We hope you will come when you can!  

 

Session 1 July 9 - 30

1st Service - 9-10:15

THE JOURNEY - Room A103 // Taught by Matt Sowada and Phil True. (This class is for men only.)
We are each on a journey.  As Christians we are transformed by the renewing of our minds.  Men – You’ll want to join us as we look into and apply four key passages on our sanctification. 

 

DEEPER STILL - Room A101 // Taught by Robyn Sowada and Kim Todd (This class is for women only.)
You have been invited into a transforming relationship with Christ. Do you desire to grow spiritually and deepen your relationship with Him? Join other women who are also on the journey. We'll explore pictures of growth in the Scriptures, and the role of spiritual disciplines as an invitation to meet with Him, know Him, and experience Him more intimately.

 

2nd Service - 10:50 - 12:00

ADOPTED FOR LIFE - Room A101 //Taught by Shawn Reinfried and Arthur Woods
Have you ever noticed how the New Testament speaks of our entrance into the family of God? Jesus uses the biological image of new birth and the apostle Paul uses the language of adoption. In this class we will explore several biblical themes through the lens of adoption and how the truth of a vertical reality is expressed in the horizontal picture of children being adopted into families."

Are you building your financial future on the shifting sands of the world’s system?  Would you like to learn how to build your financial future on the timeless rock of God’s word?  If yes, join us as we look to apply God’s word in our financial lives in the areas of saving, giving, budgeting, debt, insurance and investing.

FOUR WAYS TO BECOME A FANTASTIC STORYTELLER - Room A101 // Taught by Katelyn Bailey
Can you tell a story?  Maybe its in a Kidmin class?  Maybe its to your grandkids?  Each week we will be learning a different aspect of storytelling and how to do them well.

 

TWO SUNDAYS IN AUGUST: A CONVERSATION ABOUT COMMUNITY - Room EE 104 // Taught by Ric Joline  Meeting Dates August 6 and 13
Pastor Ric will be leading a Summer Elective designed both to get acquainted with small and life group leaders and prospective leaders and to provide a brief overview of the foundational priorities of group life.

BIBLE 101: TAKING GOD AT HIS WORD - Room A103 //Taught by Matt Sowada and Scott Brady
God’s Word is more than just a book.  Do you believe that?  Join us as we overview not only what’s in the Bible, but also why we can trust it.  Be prepared to walk away with a greater understanding of this life changing text!

 

CHRIST IN CULTURE - Room A101 //Taught by Steve Brubaker and Steve Polonus
The relationship between the Gospel of Jesus Christ and human culture has been an enduring problem. As Christians, how do we act in and interact with our modern culture? This ABF class will explore how Christians live in relation to culture and how Christ has influenced and continues to influence our prevailing Western culture.
