Baptism at Sunday in the Park - Group 2

Max Himes

When I was like 4 or 5 I wanted to get saved. I asked my mom how I can be saved, she sat me down and I got saved, or so I thought. I spent the next years not caring for church or what people had to say about it. But, when I was in 7th grade something changed. I actually wanted to learn, and that was nostly god working in me. But I would also like to give credit to Tyler. He made learning really fun and showed me that it was okay to have fun and joke around, but I should take some time to praise God. My understanding more about being saved made me question if I was saved or not, but in the end, I just pushed it off. Tyler started to talk about repentance and I started to question again, but I pushed it off again. I went to a Christian camp a couple months later and the pastor there also talked about repentance. This really got me thinking, is God trying to tell me somethng or is this just a coincidence. I came to the conclusion that when I got saved as a kid I said the words but didn't mean to. So, after a couple months of thinking I prayed and repented. It felt like a weight was lifted off my shoulders. I started to pray more often, even for the smallest things. However, the next months were rough because I tried to break the bad habits I had made over the years, but this verse helped me through it - Romans 7:15-17, "I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me." After all of this I started to care about my sin more, I took steps to stop sinning, and payed attention in morning lessons. I would like to thank God and everyone else who has helped.

I got saved when I was 6 years old. Me and my dad went and sat on his bed, we talked and prayed for a little bit. We need the Bible so we can learn more about God. We need to get saved because we are sinners. Jesus died on the cross for us because we are sinners. Now that I am saved the Holy Spirit is with me and he helps me make good choices. My favorite verse is John 3:16, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life."

I accepted Jesus as my Savior when I was 4 years old. Jesus is important to me because I know that he knows me better than anyone else ever will. I know that I can always come to Him for forgiveness when I do something wrong. I want to be baptized to tell others that I have accepted Him and I am a follower. A Bible verse that is meaningful to me is John 3:16, "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son so that woever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life."

I have wanted to get baptized for a long time to show the world that I have accepted Jesus and that I am no longer the same person that I once was. I want to grow closer to Jesus and I want to always learn from Him. A verse that is encouraging to me is Deuteronomy 31:6, which is "Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you."
