God's Favor

Luke 2:14, “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”

Isaiah 9:6, “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders.  And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”  Prince of Peace has arrived.  Some 60 years after Jesus’ death, Paul writes to the Ephesians in 2:14, “Jesus Himself is our Peace.”

Ephesians 2:14, For he himself is our peace, who has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility,

John 14:27, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you.  I do not give to you as the world gives.  Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

Luke 21:9-11, “When you hear of wars and uprisings, do not be frightened.  These things must happen first, but the end will not come right away.  Then he said to them: “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.  There will be great earthquakes, famines and pestilences in various places, and fearful events and great signs from heaven.”

Colossians 1:21-22, “Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation.”

Romans 5:1, “Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Romans 8:7, “The mind governed by the flesh is hostile toward God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so.”

Isaiah 53:5-6, “But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.  We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.”

Philippians 4:6-7, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

1 Peter 5:7, “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”

1 Peter 1:12, “It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves but you, when they spoke of the things that have now been told you by those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven.  Even angels long to look into these things.”

Benediction:
This is why He came, on a day, to a city, as the Savior, Messiah, Prince of Peace.  That God would get glory, and that you know peace.  May the God of peace give you peace, and get His glory.
