Growing in Grace
In this text (2 Peter 1:1-10), Peter is showing us the importance of growing in godly character. In particular, growth (adding to our faith) in response to the resources we’ve received through Jesus Christ.
God’s given us the RESOURCES to live a Godly life.
- 2 Peter 1:1-4
It’s our RESPONSIBILITY to use them
- 2 Peter 1:5-7
The RESULTS do matter
- 2 Peter 1:8-9
Reflection thoughts:
- Your individual growth affects the broader church. How is your growth affecting others? What community contexts are close enough to see this growth?
- Do you know these resources Peter mentions in the first four verses?
- Have you “made any effort” to grow recently?
- Collectively (in whatever group you choose – family, Life Group, etc) decide on a quality.
- How did Jesus model this?
- Are there any other references in scripture that mention this?
- What does it look like when I fail? Discern what the opposite of this quality looks like.
- Practically/Personally -- What does it look like for YOU to grow in this?
