Why is the Bible such a big deal?

“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.” Psalm 119:105 KJV

• The word of God illuminates where we are standing, as a lamp would do.
• The Word of God is also like that flashlight that tells us what is ahead.

Jesus, the living Word, has become the light that gives life. John 1:1-5

• Jesus is the living testament that encompasses the entirety of the Word of God. (1)
• He is the source of all truth and all that has life. (2)
• His life as the living Word gives light to all. (4)
• That light exposes all that is not of God. (5)

The Word is the tool God uses for shaping us. 2 Timothy 3:14-17

• The Word makes you wise for salvation, especially to learn it young. (15)
• The Word is God’s breath upon us. It comes from the very heart and lungs of God. (16a)

The value of the Word of God in our hands.

• We can know the truth that secures our standing and guides our steps.
• We can know who God is and who we are.
• We can know how to live, because we have the life and teachings found in Jesus Christ.
