Therefore . . . flee?
- Rising Before Dawn - Therefore…flee?
- The disciples ask when will you come?
- Don't be deceived by false messiahs
- Don't be alarmed by wars and rumors of wars
- You will be persecuted and hated
- Stand firm
- Preach the gospel to the world
- The Jews absolutely expected that Messiah would restore the nation
- Matt 24:15-22
- “When you see Jerusalem being surrounded by armies, you will know that its desolation is near. Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those in the city get out, and let those in the country not enter the city." - Luke 21:20-21
- For any Jewish person, this event would remind them of the Maccabean Revolt that led to a period of self rule.
- Therefore….Flee!
- The church escaped destruction because they listened and fled to Perea when the Romans surrounded Jerusalem
- Our roles matter
- Our role right now is to be messengers, not soldiers
- But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness. Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in
the presence of many witnesses. - 1 Tim 6:11-12 - We have dual citizenship - our nation and as citizens of heaven
- It's about the gospel!
