Below are some discussion questions relating to a recent sermon. These are provided so that your Life Group can discuss what was shared. Texts: Exodus 3:1-15; 19:1-25; 24:15-17; Isaiah 6:1-8
- Was there ever a moment in your life where you had an experience of being exposed to the presence of God and it literally took your breath away? If so, describe that moment and what did you feel?
- Read Isaiah 6:1-8. If you were to come face to face with God unexpectedly, what do you think would be your response or reaction? Why? In comparing yourself to Isaiah, what do you think would be your confession?
- Consider the Israelites having to observe the Mountain of God from afar (Ex. 3:1-15; 19:1-25). If God did not provide an effort or means by which you could approach Him or come into His presence, what feelings would you experience? What is the state of your relationship between you and Him? What does it say about God’s character that He provided means to Moses, Israel, and Isaiah to approach Him and be in His presence?
- The burning bush is how God chose to appear to Moses. How does this symbol represent the character of God?
- The holiness of God is difficult for us to comprehend. How should we strive to understand both His holiness and His mercy and grace? How do they compliment each other?
